About this piece
This is my dark fantasy display piece: a muscular demon standing over scattered ruins, curved horns sweeping back from its head, great bat wings folded forward around its shoulders, and a long tail curling around the base. Small details reward a closer look, or a slow fingertip: a broken pillar, a gravestone at its feet, spikes along the spine, and the tendons in the wing membranes. At about a quarter kilo of dense print it has real presence on a shelf, next to a gaming setup or on a desk. The print is a single piece including the base. I print it to order, clean the fine points of the horns, wings and tail by hand, and check every sharp detail before it ships.
Why I made it this way
- I sculpted the wings wrapped forward, so the silhouette reads from every angle.
- I put ruins, a pillar and a gravestone on the base, a small scene rather than a plain disc.
- I print it in one piece, base and all.
- I finish the horn tips, wing edges and tail by hand.
- I print it dense, so it has the weight a statement piece deserves.
