About this piece
This vase is really a sculpture with a hollow middle. A long dragon coils its whole body around the vessel, head rising at one side, tail sweeping between stylised clouds, with koi fish swimming through the relief around the foot. The rim flares into a ring of lotus petals, and the foot carries its own decorated band. The relief is deep enough to explore by touch, one scale ridge at a time. It holds dried flowers and grasses beautifully; for fresh flowers with water, use a glass or cup inside, since the print itself is not watertight. I print it to order and finish the relief by hand before it ships.
Why I made it this way
- I wrapped one continuous dragon around the whole body, head to tail.
- I filled the scene with koi and clouds, so there is always more to find.
- I flared the rim into lotus petals, a soft crown over the deep relief.
- I made the relief deep enough to read by fingertip.
- I recommend a glass insert for fresh flowers; the print itself is decor, not watertight.
What arrives
