About this piece
Anyone who knits or crochets knows the fight: the yarn ball rolls off the sofa, under the table, across the floor, and picks up dust the whole way. A yarn spinner ends that fight. Set your yarn cake on the spinner plate, feed the end to your needles, and the plate rotates on its base as you pull, paying out yarn smoothly with no tangling, no rolling and no chasing. I make it in two parts, a base and a spinner plate that rests in it, with no bearings or metal, and in three styles: a clean cylinder, a heart, and a star. The printed option comes assembled and spin-tested; the digital option gives you all six STL files, every base and every spinner, so you can print the whole family. It also makes a genuinely useful gift for the knitter in your life, and yes, it works just as well for a blind knitter, which is exactly the kind of everyday tool I like to make.
Why I made it this way
- I end the yarn chase: the plate spins, the cake stays put, the thread feeds smoothly.
- I make three styles: cylinder, heart and star, each a base plus spinner plate.
- I use no bearings and no metal, just two printed parts that run smoothly.
- I include all six STL files in the digital option, so you can print every style.
- I designed it as an everyday tool that works by feel, for sighted and blind knitters alike.

Printing and finishing
I print each spinner to order in Denmark and finish the running surfaces by hand, so the plate turns smoothly under a gentle pull.
Returns and digital files
Printed items have a 14-day right of withdrawal, plus your 2-year complaint right. For digital downloads, the 14-day withdrawal right ends once the download begins.
